Removal of skin tags

Skin growths are small skin formations that can appear anywhere on the body. They are usually painless and do not require medical treatment. Most doctors recommend leaving them alone unless you wish to have them removed for aesthetic or personal reasons. If you would like to remove them, you can visit our clinic to discuss treatment options, such as cauterization (burning off the growth).

Details

Skin growths are small, benign formations that can occur on any part of the body. They are typically harmless and painless. Most doctors advise against removing them unless desired by the patient. If you wish to have them removed, our clinic offers professional treatment options, including surgical excision, cryotherapy, or cauterization.

1. Schedule an appointment with our dermatologist

Most skin growths are harmless, but if you notice that one is darker than the surrounding skin, increasing in size, or irregular in shape, you should consult a dermatologist.
Removing a growth yourself without proper examination could cause complications or delay diagnosis of a potentially serious issue.

Skin growths should not significantly change color. If they do, contact a dermatologist. If the doctor finds it suspicious, the removed tissue will be sent for histological examination.

2. Surgical excision

Your doctor will numb the area with a topical anesthetic and remove the growth at its base using a scalpel or surgical scissors. This method, called excision, is quick and virtually painless.

3. Cryotherapy (freezing)

During your visit, the doctor will apply a small amount of liquid nitrogen to the growth. This technique, known as cryosurgery, is also used to remove warts. The growth will fall off once it has been frozen.

4. Cauterization (burning off)

This method involves using a specialized tool that applies heat generated by electric current to the growth. The heat burns off the tissue, resulting in quick removal and minimal scarring.

5. Advantages of professional medical care

While home removal may seem tempting, professional treatment by a doctor ensures safety and quality. The doctor uses sterile instruments to prevent infection and applies an anesthetic cream to minimize discomfort during and after the procedure.

Moreover, some techniques — like cauterization — leave minimal or nearly invisible scars.
